Following one of the biggest storm events in Fiordlands history, several bridges were washed out and iconic tracks like the Milford were closed. Abseil Access were engaged by Department of Conservation to rebuild bridges on the Routeburn, Milford (4) and Marian walkway. The work started in winter and the weather got worse. But the team were brave and persevered. This project had all the dramas of helicopters, rain, sandflies, explosives and more rain.
Matt leading the team with Ash, Erwan, Harlon, Tom and Cam from DoC
Abseil Access recently completed the new bridge at the Kauaeranga road end for the Department of Conservation. Just in time for Christmas. Take the kids for a walk.
Thanks to Matt and the bridge build team of Mark, Josh, Erwan and Tom.
Stage 1 of the Kawatiri track is now open. It runs from Westport to Carters beach. Abseil Access did the design and build for the bridges and the worked closely with Westreef who built 800m of boardwalk through the amazing wetland. Martins Creek bridge uses stainless steel component throughout, even the main cables. It’s quite shiny. No, its not named after the managing director.
Thanks to Ash and the build team Aaron and Daren, and of course the project management from Alex in the Nelson office.
