Behind The Latter Day Saints Church, Dunedin, is an old basalt quarry face. Our geotechnical crew were called in to install rock bolts and shotcrete to unstable areas.

With the help of some long reach EWP’s, and the odd crane, the work was completed in record time.

The explosive demolition of 220m guyed radio mast in Titahi Bay was successful. Cameras all around captured various aspects of the felling and a short movie is due out soon.

One camera, stationed at the base, caught the 80 ton mast completely off the ground just before impact. We also captured some great sound thanks to dedicated microphones carefully positioned.

Despite the demo day being the only cloudy day in 3 weeks of sunshine quite a crowd gathered to witness it final moments.

This time the cliff that required drill and blast removal was on Bluff Road, Northern Coromandel.

Our team of 5 drilled and blasted 300+m3 of rock using two cliff face drill rigs and sequentially timed explosives.

A high level of fracture was required with minimal fly rock and no back break.
