SOIL NAILS AND A DIGGER
In good time, the drilling works at Oxford St were completed. With swift work from digger operator extraordinaire Tom Arnold, and Joe ‘Groutmaster’ Wilson, the team averaged 40m of drilling per day along with daily mixing and pumping 700 litres of grout.
A total of 77 nails were installed, and 5500 litres of grout mixed and injected. It was a nice change from the difficulties associated with the cliff-face and steep ground style works which we are accustomed too. Along with the nails, 8 proof tests were carried out with no failures or issues, and 150m2 of SE82 steel mesh installed on the face.
This will allow City Care to then complete the retaining wall works with a shotcrete facing.
