LIGHTHOUSE RESTORATION – PART ONE

Feb 2014: Point Hallswell, Miramar: The 3rd lighthouse we have done for Wellington Harbours.

The base and walkway are in the high tide and wave wash zone. This concrete structure had a full strip down and re-coat. Scaffold and full containment was required while the tower was UHP waterblasted at 45000psi. This revealed a number of cracks in the structure which were repaired using Sika epoxy crack injection system.

AA are authorised sika applicators. Sika FerroGard 903 (a Sika re-alkalisation product) was added to the bare concrete followed by Resene X200 impermeable membrane.

Being within the tide and splash zone added further difficulties to the project. It was all completed within the 3 weeks allocated period.
