BIG JERSEY

The internal regional rivalry at Abseil Access between Canterbury and Wellington continued with the promotion of the Hurricanes and Crusaders new Super Rugby jerseys.

Abseil Access worked with Spark Proactive to organise the publicity event where the teams suspended the shirts from locations in each respective town.

KIWIRAIL BRIDGES

The Christchurch team recently worked with Kiwirail to inspect steel span bridges and also to carry out subsequent maintenance.

The works consisted of visual inspection of the steel truss, recording and logging corrosion and mechanical defects, leading to an overall condition report.

Access was gained to the hard to reach areas via some athletic aid climbing through out the structures. Rivets were also replaced via oxy-propane cutting and then corrosion treatment applied once the new bolt was torqued.

CORROSION TREATMENT AND REPAIR

Abseil Access carried out a visual inspection of the silo with repairs to the concrete walls and steel stairway.

Silo 1 is a concrete silo with a 2200 ton capacity for concrete storage. The repair works were undertaken by a four man team over a nine week period. Repair works to the silo walls included crack repair, spalling concrete repair, corrosion treatment, replacement of sealant on containment bands and painting over rust stains.

The stairway repairs involved the replacement of several stair treads, bracing arms and hand rails, as well as painting over rust stained areas.
